Many top designers are now featuring colorful patterns and new shapes. In the last ten years or so, we’ve seen optical shelves packed with rectangular frames. While rectangle is certainly not a thing of the past, we are now seeing more intriguing shapes enter the optical world.
Round is beginning to make a major comeback on both the west and east coasts of the United States as well as in Europe. The round shape has been rumored to be on the rise for the last five years or so, but it isn’t until this summer that this metro-retro shape is having its big coming of age.
Interesting color patterns have also been on the rise. Traditionally, frames have been in the color schemes of black, brown, silver, and gold. In the past, the only pink or purple frames you could find were moldy-oldies (frames for all of the grandmas out there). Those of us who have embraced our femininity are thanking God… and all those who design these frames… that pink, purple, and all that is pastel is back! Plastic purple, pink, cream, and other feminine colors have entered optical locations everywhere!
What’s even better is people are no longer wearing glasses because they have to – they are wearing them because they want to! Over the last few years, glasses have become increasingly present as an accessory item for celebrities and fashionistas everywhere!
